When Casey Anthony was released from prison as a free woman in 2011, she was described as "the most hated woman in America."

More than 1,000 angry protesters gathered at the Orange County court in Orlando, FL, after their shocking acquittal of the murder and unplanned murder charges of their 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

At the time, Anthony's attorney, Cheney Mason, said his client feared for his life and that the enraged public threatened his safety.

Things seem to have changed. Anthony, now 31, lives peacefully in South Florida doing legal research as a job and living with Pat McKenna, a private investigator who worked on his case. (The nature of their relationship has never been made public.)

And while she generally remains isolated, Anthony is also meeting new people. People magazine spoke to two sources close to her who say she is facing less hostility than before.

"People leave her pretty much alone," said a source who has known Anthony since his trial. "She can go out and no one really bothers her."

Another source agrees: "It's been long enough and she's not as toxic as it used to be."

“It comes out once in a while. She has a circle of friends and the men are looking at her again, "said the second source," they are even inviting her out."

When Anthony's team actively tried to sell photos and media interviews, they finally didn't have much success trying to make money from their notoriety.

He ended up giving the first interview after his acquittal - without charge - to the Associated Press earlier this year. In it, she said she was not sure if she was "so silly" as to have another child.

Anthony has occasionally spoken to his mother, Cindy, and his brother, Lee, but has had little contact with his father, George, who was indicted by his defense at trial for sexually abusing her - a charge he vehemently denies.

In October, Cindy and George gave an interview on Crime Watch Daily in which they candidly talked about their famous daughter.

Cindy said she believed Casey had mental problems, while George claimed that he still sees his granddaughter at home, nine years after her death. Both assured that they would sue Casey if she were to participate in a reality show.

"Casey, be honest with yourself, start being honest with yourself and take responsibility for everything," said Cindy. "Stop blaming everyone else."

One of the sources close to Casey told People magazine that she will not speak about her life again very soon. There will be no more interviews or contracts to write a book - at least for now, according to the source.

"She likes her anonymity now," said the source. "People don't recognize her. Men only see her as a pretty woman. She is not 'Casey Anthony, the accused of murder'. She is just one more young woman from Florida living her life.”
