Since their twins Evan Gabriel and Nicolás Gerardo came into the world three months ago, life has not been the same for Shalim Ortiz and Lesley Ann Machado. In addition to having to get up early and be aware of changing diapers and feeding the little ones, the couple has had to adapt to a new routine with their eldest son, Liam Michel, 5 years old.
"I had slept two hours the second day and said to Lesley, 'We're not going to make it,'" recalls the actor of the twins' arrival home. Luckily, with the help of a babysitter and dividing up the tasks, they are already experts. It was the mother of the Puerto Rican actor, the Dominican presenter and singer Charytín Goyco, who recommended this Dominican lady to help them at home. "She is a love, she is a person of many values and an angel in our lives," says Ortiz about the nanny of her children.
They were also careful in introducing the babies to their firstborn. "Liam was the only prince in the house and we didn't want him to feel rejected," says Ortiz, who gave Liam a gift from his little brothers when the babies arrived at the house. "To everyone who came to visit, we said, 'Go to Liam and ask him to show you his babies.' Now he loves them, he kisses them.”
Ortiz, who is also the brother of twins Alexander and Sharinna, 24, admits he realized the great work his parents did behind him also receiving the double blessing of having his twins. "I called my sister and I said, 'I don't know how mommy did it, but you should thank her,'" she laughs.
For her part, the grandmother is full with her three grandchildren and praises the work of her son. He is happy with his family. My son is an exemplary father. He was a young boy when my twins were born and he acted like a young dad. He changed the twins and helped me with them”, he tells us about Shalim. Now history repeats itself!
