Shakira and her partner, footballer Gerard Piqué, have given the name of Sasha to their second son, who the Colombian gave birth to in Barcelona on Thursday.
This was confirmed by their representatives through a statement that is already circulating on social networks.
"We are happy to announce the birth of Sasha Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born on January 29 at 9:54 pm, in Barcelona," reads the announcement.
The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian origin and means 'defender of humanity' and 'warrior'. The clinic reported that both the mother and the baby are in perfect health, he adds.
The singer gave birth by cesarean section at the Quirón-Teknon clinic in Barcelona, where she reserved a floor to keep her privacy to the maximum.
