After the rumor emerged last week, Penélope Cruz has confirmed - now she does - that she is expecting her second baby.
The Spanish newspaper El País reports Tuesday that Javier Giner, the actress's publicist in Spain, confirmed Penelope's pregnancy by explaining the reasons why she will not be present this Sunday at the Goya Awards gala.
Giner explained that Penelope is currently working in the United States and is also pregnant. The publicist also expressed that the actress feels "tremendously happy and very excited", while regretting not being able to be present at the most important awards ceremony in Spanish cinema, reported El País.
The New York Post newspaper had reported Penelope's second pregnancy about 10 days ago, citing sources close to the actress. Several media then tried to contact Cruz's representatives in the United States seeking to confirm the report, without obtaining a response.
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, married since July 2010, have a son - Leonardo Encinas - born in January 2011. The couple is known to be extremely jealous of their privacy, constantly seeking to keep their son away from the cameras of the paparazzi and the public eye.
