Move over Shark Tank, Latinos are getting the spotlight.
HSN has launched a business competition titled Project American Dreams to find Latino entrepreneurs and help them bring success to their product innovations. The entertainment and lifestyle retailer teamed up with an entrepreneur and the creator of Dreamers Ventures, Liliana “Lili” Gil Valletta to expand on their existing American Dreams initiative.
"HSN has a rich history of supporting entrepreneurs and introducing their products to the marketplace," said Bill Brand, President, HSN. “Building on the success of our existing American Dreams series, we are looking forward to extending our reach, while leveraging Dreamers Ventures' incredible network to discover innovative new products through Project American Dreams.”
The competition began during Hispanic Heritage Month at the end of September, in which hopeful entrepreneurs had the chance to submit their projects online for review. Although the initial deadline was December 9th, applicants now can apply to December 16th. At that time, twenty products will be chosen to be semifinalists and then cut down to five winners. The winners will have the life-changing opportunity of introducing their brand live on the network in the spring of 2017- reaching nearly 94 million households. And it doesn't end there- the finalists will receive personalized coaching, resources and tips from various HSN celebrity partners.
“While Latinos represent 17% of the population and are starting more new businesses than the general population, they receive less access to opportunities and get less than 1% of all venture capital and angel funding,” said Gil Valletta. “This is why I assembled an alliance of leading experts, investors and mentors to fill the gap in access and opportunity for Latino entrepreneurs.”
Entrepreneurs have until December 16th to apply. For more information and submission instructions, be sure to visit ProjectAmericanDreams.com.
