Police found 26 children hiding behind a false wall at a daycare in Colorado. The owner of the store, Carla Faith, 58, was arrested this week on suspicion of child abuse. The children were hidden behind a false wall in the center basement. Three employees, Katelynne Nelson, 31, Christina Swauger, 35, and Valerie Fresquez, 24 - were also arrested.

Authorities received reports that there were too many children at Play Mountain Place, a daycare in Colorado Springs. The 26 children hidden in the basement were all under the age of 2 and were with two adults. According to the authorities, most of the little ones were dehydrated and had a dirty diaper.

When officers arrived, Faith said there was no basement and that the children were outside the daycare center in a park, according to police. However, one of the officers noticed that there were many backpacks tucked inside a closet. Faith told her that she was cleaning a soccer team's backpacks, something she did as a volunteer to help.

A police officer listened to music coming from the basement and the cry of a child and kept searching, until another officer discovered a false wall. The parents of the children assured authorities that they did not know that their children were in a basement that had not yet been completed or that Faith was in charge of caring for so many babies.

Play Mountain Place is only authorized to care for six children and its license to care for minors has been suspended. The woman owns two other daycare centers in Colorado Springs that are also under investigation. Faith was released from jail after posting a $ 3,000 bond on Wednesday and is due to appear in court on January 2.
