Singer Christian Nodal was the most awarded Mexican regional music artist in the 20th. awards Latin Grammy night on Thursday, taking home two of the three awards for which it was nominated. The interpreter won the gold gramophone for Best Regional Mexican Song and Best Ranchero / Mariachi Album, surpassing the legendary Vicente Fernández, who during the awards ceremony made a special appearance that brought him out of retirement.
“Don Vicente does not [need] any award to be [the] legend that he is. It is an inspiration to all young people,”said Nodal, 20, visibly surprised by his second prize of the night.
But nobody was surprised and moved more than the singer's mother and manager, Cristy Nodal. For reasons beyond its control, it could not accompany its offspring to the award ceremony, held in Las Vegas, NV, as it usually does. However, she cried uncontrollably when she saw her firstborn on screen receiving her second prize of the night - and thanking both her and her father for the love instilled in them by Mexican music.
"Diosito my child, my life, another my king, another!", The proud mother was heard screaming in tears in a video shared on her social networks. "Congratulations son of my soul. From here from my bed I get up and applaud you standing up. For all your effort, sacrifice and dedication to your audience from day 1 where your eyes shone so much [to] carry so many dreams that today are realities. I admit and respect you for never giving up.”
The singer has confessed that his mom is not only his number one fan, but that she is his idol and his favorite person, for which he thanks her for accompanying him on his musical adventure.
"I want to thank my mom and dad for instilling in me regional Mexican music since I was born," he said, accepting the award on stage. "They, apart from giving me life, gave me love for the music I make."
Her mother has been her faithful companion on every step she has achieved in her career, and on such an important day she could not fail to be mentioned. Congratulations to both and continue the successes!
