Last weekend was full of sadness for the artists that make up the renowned Cirque du Soleil, since one of its members lost his life after suffering an accident during a presentation in the city of Tampa, Florida.

Yann Arnaud, a French acrobat who had been part of a famous circus for 15 years, was performing a dangerous aerial maneuver with his partner Pawel Walczewski when he lost his grip on the ropes that held him in the air and fell to the ground with a crash from a height of 20 feet.

As reported by the online site of People magazine, it was the first time that the acrobatic duo put this maneuver to the test within the show and Arnaud had excitedly shared it in one of his latest social media posts. "After much work and practice, our string performance as a couple will finally be on the show tonight," wrote the artist moments before the accident that claimed his life.

After the fall in the middle of the show, the Frenchman was rushed to a nearby hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he died on Sunday morning.

"The Cirque du Soleil family is in shock and devastated by this tragedy," the organization's president, Daniel Lamarre, shared in a statement. "Over the next few days we will focus on supporting the Yann family and our workers … as we go through this difficult time," he added.

Arnaud was married and the father of two young daughters. His family was often the protagonist of the publications he shared on his social networks.
