A little more joins the shocking list of childhood suicides by bullying.

Kevin Reese Jr., A 10-year-old boy from Houston, TX, committed suicide in January after enduring bullying at school, according to his mother, Crystal Smith, who has now launched a campaign to prevent a similar tragedy from happening again.

Kevin was found by his 13-year-old sister hanged in a closet shortly after they both got home from school. Kevin's mother was out of town for work and her stepfather had not yet come home.

"Kevin was a funny boy," Smith told the local ABC affiliate. "It's my little whirlwind of humor, that's what I told him."

Despite his charismatic personality, the boy was bullied at his school. The hurt mother recounts that Kevin was bullied by her classmates for several months.

"I just thought he was handling situations. They wrote on their tablet to commit suicide: "You don't belong here," Smith said. "When he became a physicist in November, he came home crying because he did not defend himself when one of the boys hit him several times when leaving recess."

Smith told ABC13 that Kevin's school told him that no bullying incidents had been reported.

Kevin joins a long list of young children who have killed themselves after being bullied at school.

In the spirit of preventing more childhood suicides, Kevin's mom left a message for other parents.

Pay attention to your son. Don't assume things are handled at school. Stay on top of this until you see something come out at the end,”Crystal said.
