The inexhaustible rescue efforts to which rescuers and a large part of the Mexican people have devoted themselves since a 7.1-magnitude earthquake shook the Aztec country last Tuesday have not been in vain. Yesterday, a 67-year-old man was pulled from inside a mountain of rubble, alive.

According to the Political Animal Website, José Luis Ponce had spent about 26 hours submerged in what was once a building in the Lindavista neighborhood, located in the second most populated delegation in the city (Gustavo A. Madero).

Likewise, the Facebook page 90 minutes released the images showing rescuers extracting from the heart of that building, the survivor without shoes or shirt, in shock and with visible bruises on his upper extremities and a neck brace. But he is alive, and that is something that those who witnessed his rescue cannot ignore: it is as if man had been born again.

Among applause, elements of the heroic fire department placed Ponce on a stretcher to be transferred to the Magdalena de las Salinas Hospital, after surviving this telluric monster that took the lives of more than 220 Mexicans.

Communication officials from that delegation said that the rescue work in that building has been very difficult, because the building practically made a sandwich, all the floors were crushed. Since machinery could not be used to rescue Ponce, the Mexican Army and Civil Protection used specialized technology in this type of rescue.
