They were taken by surprise on a flight from Damman, Saudi Arabia to Cochin, southeast India, when a woman brought her baby into the world. In response, the Hindu aeronautical company Jet Airways granted a free travel pass for life to the baby, who is the first to be born during one of her flights, as reported by the Hindu news network NDTV.
It all happened on Flight 9W569, which was 10,500 meters high with 162 passengers and crew on board, when a passenger originally from India began labor prematurely. Given this, the crew members - with the support of a paramedic traveling on that flight - supported her with the necessary medical assistance to give birth to a child somewhere on the Arabian Sea.
"Upon landing, both the mother and the baby were taken to the Holy Spirit Hospital in Mumbai and are doing well," airline staff told the media.
To take the mother and newborn to a health center, it was necessary to divert the route of the Boeing 737 to Bombay, India. At the moment, it is unknown what the name of the little one will be.
Last year there was another birth of a baby in flight when a woman had a baby girl during a trip from Dubai to the Philippines on a Cebu Pacific Air ship. In that case, the mother was a first-time mother and her delivery was also advanced two months. That girl also received free lifetime flights from the airline that saw her born.
