Julio César Chávez Jr. has received two beatings these days.
The first was given to him on Saturday in a Las Vegas ring by his rival Saúl el Canelo Álvarez and the second was received from his eldest daughter, Julia, who reminded him of his bitter defeat in the ring.
"Canelo hit you," the little girl told her dad when the boxer offered an interview to E News, in which the girl appeared spontaneously. In addition to reminding him that he had been defeated, the little girl took the opportunity to teach her famous father how to fight.
Julia's stark criticism joins that of analysts and fans, who have harshly criticized Chávez Jr.'s performance in a fight that was below the expected level.
The fight between the two boxers practically paralyzed Mexico because they faced two of their young boxing stars for the first time in what was called the fight of the year, but that fell far short of that name in the opinion of those who witnessed it live or they paid to watch it on television.
In fact, specialists and fans of this sport have come to label the fight held in the Capital of Sin as the worst in history between two Mexicans. As it could not be otherwise, the controversy it generated has spread to the networks in the form of memes.
"Things did not go as planned, I would have liked it to have given more show, to throw more punches. But when the body does not respond to something, how do you do it. My son is fine, he is healthy, that is the main thing,”said Julio César Chávez Sr. in an interview with ESPN. "The battle was lost and not the war."
