For the second consecutive day, United Airlines remains involved in a huge scandal over the violent expulsion of one of its passengers from one of its flights last Sunday for refusing to give up its seat to a member of an airline crew.

On Tuesday, the identity of the passenger's victim who was dragged on the floor of the cabin, with a bloody face, was revealed. This is David Dao, a 69-year-old doctor of Vietnamese origin who lives in Louisville, KY, where the plane from which he was forced to disembark at the Chicago airport was heading.

In brief statements to the WLKY channel in Louisville, the doctor confirmed that he is recovering in a Chicago hospital from the injuries he sustained in the incident and, when asked what injuries he had, he answered "everything."

The controversy generated by this incident, which seems to have galvanized the rancor of many passengers with the alleged mistreatment they receive from the airlines, has cost United Tuesday more than a year to what happened was considered insensitive for not having assumed its responsibility in what happened and apologize to Dr. Dao for the way he was treated. Instead, United Chief Executive Officer Oscar Muñoz defended the performance of his employees and accused the passenger of being "bellicose."

Needless to say, that reaction did not sit well and Muñoz was forced to issue a press release in which he unambiguously apologized to the passenger and took responsibility for what happened.
