A Melanie Segard, a young woman with Down syndrome, was showered with applause after presenting the report time this week in a television channel in France. More than five million viewers watched the 21-year-old girl present the time on the France 2-broadcast news program. Her segment achieved the highest audience this season for the show.
Segard participated in the segment with the presenter of the program's habital time and both ended up hugging and holding hands after the report that moved many.
The young woman launched a Facebook campaign titled “Melanie can do it”, where she confessed that one of her dreams was to present the time segment. She also asked for help to reach 100,000 "likes" on her account and thus get the attention of a television channel. In just a few days, she exceeded her goal and the France 2 channel proposed to go on camera as she wanted.
"There it is, I did it," she wrote excitedly on her Facebook page after her television appearance. According to the chain, the video was later seen on social networks by some 3.3 million users. Bravo for her!
