Controversy In Mexico For A Cover Of Melania Trump

Less than 24 hours after United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order for a border wall to be built, Melania Trump appears happy and radiant in the Mexican edition of the Vanity Fair magazine cover.

The contrast between that image and the actions of her husband has not sat well with many Mexicans and has sparked numerous criticisms.

However, it is not the content of the magazine that is burning the networks, but the context, since it appears just when the President of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, canceled his meeting with Trump due to the magnate's insistence that Mexicans will pay the wall between the two countries.

Among the criticisms of the interview of the former model, who for the presidential election selected a blue model like Jackie Kennedy's, is that of the Chicago Tribune, who describes it as “awkwardly programmed”, while Forbes magazine titles the article as “Los Mexicans are not happy with the cover of Melania Trump at Vanity Fair.”

In response to the criticism, Vanity Fair issued a statement to explain that her intention with the cover was "to contribute, as always, an independent and critical point of view about current events and the characters that star in it."

This is not the first time that Melania has set social networks on fire. Just a few days ago, she became the target of a shower of memes after her arrival at the White House, not to mention the controversy generated by her speech at the Republican National Convention, which was partly copied from one of the former first lady Michelle Obama.
