The bodies of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who died along with seven other people on January 26, were handed over to their relatives. This was confirmed this Monday by the Los Angeles Coroner's Office through its official website.

The former LA Lakers player, 41, and his daughter Gigi, 13, lost their lives alongside Payton Chester, 13; Sarah Chester, 45; Alyssa Altobelli, 14; Keri Altobelli, 46; John Altobelli, 56; Christina Mauser, 38; and the pilot of the aircraft, Ara Zobayan, 50.

The cause of his death has been established as "blunt force trauma" and has been classified as an "accident," according to the site.

The accident occurred in the morning in the town of Calabasas, located about 30 miles from Los Angeles. The passengers were heading to a basketball game that was being played at the Mamba Academy, founded by the player, and in which Gigi and other of the two passengers were going to play that afternoon.

Dense fog was reported the morning of the incident. According to reports, although the pilot had the requirements to fly by means of instruments, the license of the company that owns the device only allowed operating in conditions of good visibility.

This Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department also released calls made to 911 by witnesses who wanted to report the plane crash. "I heard a bang and it immediately stopped (sound of aircraft)," exclaimed one of the callers.

"It passed over my head," exclaimed another witness, "There are the thick clouds. I heard a pop [sound] and it immediately stopped.”

* Furthermore, the Routsong Funeral Home in Kettering, Ohio is offering a book so that "local fans and residents" can send their condolences to the player's family. The book will be available at its offices at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm local time, as announced on its website and confirmed by WHIO-TV 7, a CBS affiliate in Ohio.
