Ilia Calderón appeared this morning with businesswomen Shilpa Yarlagadda and María Andrea Encalada in Despierta América (Univision) to talk about some very special rings. Celebrities such as Calderón, Serena Williams, Michelle Obama and actresses Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley -who wore them at the Oscars- have fallen in love with the Shiffon “Duet Pinky Rings” rings, not only because of their style, but because 50 percent of the profits generated by the sale of these jewels is donated to businesswomen.

"These famous women are using their platforms to make an impact and make a positive difference for other women," Shilpa Yarlagadda, the founder of this jewelry company, told Ponte Bella. “It is very important to give back to the community, we want to make a difference. I want to give capital and mentoring to companies that have a social conscience and products that promote sustainability. To date, we have already financially supported nine companies that empower women.”

During her first year as a student at Harvard, Yarlagadda created the Shiffon jewelry company from her university room, something that caught the attention of Colombian presenter Ilia Calderón when she met the businesswoman at a conference in the Netherlands in 2018. " She is so passionate about what she does and is so motivated to help other women that I fell in love with the project and decided to help them as a mentor,”says Calderón. "That day she wanted to give me a ring and I said, 'No, I'm going to buy it to support.' We are helping people we do not know but need in the world, as entrepreneurs in Nairobi. By purchasing this gem, I am telling these women to believe in themselves and supporting their businesses so that they can get ahead.”

This jewel is not only striking and glamorous, it has an important mission. "What we are trying to achieve is raise awareness and help other women financially," says María Andrea Encalada, another businesswoman involved with the Shiffon company.

Something interesting about the jewel is that it can be a gift and a show of affection between women. "Ana has a ring. I bought her ring as well,”says Calderón about his daughter. "Shilpa and I have the promise that since I am her mentor, she will be Ana's mentor. I would like Ana to learn from Shilpa, her desire to help, that whenever she wants something she always takes it forward." This ring - whose design started as a dream in Shilpa's university room - today adorns celebrities on red carpets and helps other businesswomen achieve their own dreams.

"It is worn on the little finger and is adjustable," adds Yarlagadda to the ring, available in silver or 14 or 18 carat gold with a small diamond on the tip. "It has a spiral shape because it symbolizes the feminine improvement, as the woman can ascend". For more information or to buy the rings visit www.shiffonco.com
