After sharing the best tips for caring for your skin from the age of 40 or preventing aging in the 30s and, of course, taking care of the skin care for stars like Adamari López, Gaby Espino or Olga Tañon Amongst many others, Dr. Daniel Campos is our new expert collaborator at Ponte Bella. Born in Cuba and settled in Miami since 1995, Dr. Campos, today specializes in non-invasive and anti-aging cosmetic procedures and tells us in first person how he became the favorite of the Miami jet set and what his treatments are and star tips.

How and when did you decide to specialize in skin and beauty issues?

I think dedicating myself to aesthetic medicine and anti-aging was a natural transition for me. My mother was extremely careful about her appearance and always instilled in me the importance of skincare. To be honest, as a child I didn't like creams on my face at all, it made me feel sticky. Imagine yourself in Cuba with horrible heat and my mom never stopped cleaning herself every night with an almond oil to remove her makeup, so I grew up with that example to follow. After I came to the United States, I started using creams, partly because my family was left behind and I missed them so much, taking care of my skin was part of doing the right thing so that my mother didn't worry. I was able to see first hand the immense benefit that daily care has for the skin,So I decided to delve into the world of beauty and practice skin care in a professional way.

You have a good list of famous clients, do you remember who was the first celebrity you worked with?

One of the first celebrities that came to me was Gaby Espino. At first the situation was a little tense. Imagine, it was Gaby Espino, one of the most beautiful and recognized faces in the Hispanic world. For me it was not only a challenge, because she is very young and the truth does not need much, but because of what her image represents. She, as is the correct thing, came with many questions because she is very careful of who cares for her face, so the first day we spoke, she told me that what she was looking for was to keep her skin healthy and I gave her my professional suggestion. If I remember correctly, I think that the first day we did not do any treatment, but she was always a love with me and we kept in touch through social networks. Once she continued to see my work and we went through that stage of building trust and getting to know each other until we started working together. Today Gaby and I have a very beautiful and mutually supportive relationship. It is very nice to feel appreciated by your clients and Gaby is one of those people who takes her time and with her actions makes you feel loved.

What is the treatment that is most requested in your practice?

The procedure that I am asked for the most every day is the laser facial micro infusion. The treatment consists of three steps: The first step is to pass through the skin a type of laser called thelium, which is safe for all skin types and its function is to create micro-channels on the surface of the skin. The second step consists of applying a cocktail made up of different ingredients depending on the type of skin or the need of the patient. The most used ingredients are hyaluronic acid, vitamins A and C, collagen, resveratrol, etc. Bio depigmentation agents can also be added to treat blemishes and botulinum toxin to help close pores and combat the effects of rosacea. The third and last step is the application of an icy mask on the face, which allows to combat the heat generated by the laser and helps us to close the channels created by the laser, allowing the cocktail applied to get trapped in the skin. making its ingredients nourish and hydrate the skin which gives it a radiant effect that is difficult to achieve with other treatments.

If all your clients listened to you, what would be your number one advice regarding skin care?

My number one tip would be to use sunscreen. I think the first step to start taking care of our skin, regardless of the climate we live in, is the routine use of sunscreen. Although we all know that sunscreen is essential to protect ourselves from sunburn and that it reduces the risk of skin cancer that can result from exposure to the sun, you would be surprised if I tell you that many of the people who come to my office do not have established a routine for the use of sunscreen. Many people do not know that sunscreen also helps us stay younger. Several studies have revealed that the use of sunscreen prevents photoaging that manifests itself with the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes and loss of skin elasticity. That is why I always recommend that there is no minimum age to start a beauty routine that is as simple as using sunscreen daily. I personally recommend a minimum of 45 FPS for the newspaper and more than 60 in direct exposure cases such as when we go to the beach or work in the garden.

What is the latest in terms of treatments, ingredients or new devices these days?

The world of medicine evolves by leaps and bounds every day. So almost nothing surprises me, but one of the latest trends that never ceases to amaze me as they create an obvious transformation are facial lifting procedures with minimally invasive techniques. I personally use the Sillouette Intalift facial suspension system which is the only one FDA approved and is made up of a biocompatible substance called poly glycolide / L-lactide or PLGA, which is frequently used in medical devices and is well tolerated by the body.. This implant is completely resorbable and does not require recovery time like traditional surgical methods. Its bidirectional cone system lifts the cheek tissues to achieve a fresh and youthful effect without the need for surgery. This kind of advancement always makes me think how lucky we are to live in these times where technology not only allows us to live longer, but also look young for much longer.
