Behind the brand is designer Nicky Zimmermann who started selling dresses at a Sydney street market nearly 30 years ago. After one of her friends who worked at Vogue magazine put on one of her designs to go to the office, the designer managed to put her proposals in the fashion "bible" and the rest is history.

Now Nicky wears the brand alongside her sister Simone who brings the more practical side and business mindset to the company that got another rebound of tremendous fame when Kate Middleton herself wore several of her designs during the British royal couple's visit to Australia in 2014.

The model dress "Roemer Day Dress" that the duchess chose to visit a beach in Sydney almost 5 years ago became a total success that gave them international fame in practically a matter of minutes.

"The response we received was immediate and went around the world," said the designer in an interview with the Australian edition of Vogue. "People from all over the world contacted us."
