If you are concerned about animal abuse and do not want to buy clothes that bear their skins, pay close attention because according to a study by the Humane Society International (HSI) in collaboration with the Sky news channel, some firms that we all know are selling accessories and clothing with rabbit fur or mink announcing it as synthetic fur.
The report that has already gone around the world and which has been echoed by many international media began by denouncing that the Boohoo brand, a fast fashion brand very popular in the US and the UK and that supposedly does not use fur, had put for sale high-heeled shoes decorated with a pom-pom marked “faux fur” and actually made from rabbit fur.
As reported by the website specialized in fashion Business of Fashion, the same online store also sold earrings decorated with mink fur. The brand reacted quickly by removing those two products from its website. But worst of all, they are not the only ones.
HSI also denounces lower-cost fashion giant TK Maxx, which has been selling fox fur-trimmed bomber jackets and six others including Amazon and Etsy.
"The amount of fake" faux fur "on the Internet is truly shocking, even in stores we trust," explains Claire Bass, executive director of the association that has conducted the research. "It is horrible that consumers who actively choose not to buy fur for animal suffering are being tricked into buying the garments they are precisely trying to avoid."
