We Talk About Beauty And Fashion With Eiza González

We spoke with Neutrogena actress and ambassador Eiza González, who recently premiered the second season of her series From Dusk Till Down (El Rey), about her beauty preferences and trends to follow this fall.

Your character in the series, Santánico Pandemonium, is sexy and sensual, but in real life?

I'm not as sexy as she is (laughs). In my life I am much more relaxed, more hippie. But I love being able to play that kind of character. It is incredible that Robert Rodríguez always creates characters of strong women, with personality, who do not have blunder or pain of being sexy and uninhibited. Salma [Hayek] in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson in Sin City, Michelle Rodríguez in Machete … This season my character grows a lot and I am very excited.

Recordings, red carpets … How do you take care of your skin so that it looks good at all times?

It is very important for me to have my beauty routine very organized. I try to wash my face every night because no matter how much I remove my makeup, I use much more makeup than normal girls. I try to be very consistent with it and it helps me a lot with the pores so that I don't get pimples.

I use sunscreen a lot, I never leave my house without putting it on. It is very important that we are aware that the skin is the largest organ of the body and the one that needs our care the most.

Obviously moisturize my skin all the time and do my best to keep it from drying out because with travel, makeup, sometimes I don't get a chance to get much sleep… I have to be very careful with that kind of thing.

What do you like to highlight when you put makeup on?

I like my mouth a lot, I like to put on pretty colors that attract attention but are a little more natural. My favorites are the colored balms that give you a light tint but it looks like a moisturizer, not a lipstick. I also really like taking care of my eyebrows. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how much you make up if you have beautiful skin, it shows.

What fashion trends would you like to try this fall?

I really like that the fringes come back, in [the clothes], the boots… I love it. I also want to try using more wine colors this season. I live in LA, so it's a bit more complicated because it is cold but not extreme like winter. And this year I think I'm going to wear a lot of hats.
