She is one of the most respected journalists on Spanish-speaking television, but she has rarely opened her heart as she did recently in an interview for Neida Sandoval's YouTube channel.

On the verge of tears and visibly moved, Teresa Rodríguez recalled one of the most painful episodes of her life: the death of the father of her children, who died seventeen years ago as a victim of a sudden heart attack.

"He died in my arms," said the journalist. “That day he was not feeling well in the morning. The children were at home, they were asleep […] and the dog goes to walk, he comes back and then he says 'I'm going to take a bath'. I see him and I say 'do you feel good?'. He says 'yes, I am going to take a bath because I have to go to work now, but I want to go see the children before I leave.' I feel it in the bathroom like complaining in the shower. I say 'what's the matter? Are you okay?' He says 'I don't know, I don't feel well'. It comes out, it dries… Then he kept complaining and I said 'Antonio, lie down in bed for a while' and I put him to bed and he kept saying, 'I don't feel well',”he said.

"I say 'but what do you feel?' She says 'I don't know, I don't feel well'. I start calling 911, the kids are still asleep. And he begins to agonize and suddenly unconscious and I with 911 talking to them while he was there by my side, "explained the presenter of Here and Now.

Unfortunately, when the emergency team arrived to transport him to the hospital and try to save his life, it was too late since Tony had already died, without her knowing it, in his arms.

"He made such a strange sound that I never forget it and he stopped breathing," he recalled. "He had already passed away in my arms while I [was] on the phone."

Although he was transferred to the hospital and tried to revive him for more than 10 minutes, unfortunately there was nothing left to do.

When he got to the hospital they tried to revive him for maybe 10-15 minutes. And they would say 'look we have already done everything' and I told them 'keep going, keep going'. And it could not be”, the journalist narrated with tears in his eyes.

For Teresa, the most difficult thing was without a doubt having to break the news to her children, who at the time were just children.

"That was the most difficult thing today," he said.

“But he has to be very proud of Víctor and Julián because they are… God took Tony, but he left the children to me that those children for me… They are so attached to me. One is already 32 years old, the other is 27 and one is just like me and the other is just like his father, but I know that his father must be very proud of them, said the journalist.
