Dominican fitness expert Massy Arias graces the new cover of Parents Latina magazine with her 14-month-old daughter Indi.
Arias, 29, who has become an Instagram sensation (@ massy.arias) - where she has a "tribe" with more than two million followers - spoke to the magazine about motherhood, postpartum depression and exercise. The new April / May issue of the publication presents how this young, bilingual Hispanic mother and wife has been able to combine her demanding professional career as a fitness coach with motherhood and all its demands.
"I am stronger mentally and physically, than before having had her [her daughter Indira]," Arias revealed to journalist Cristina Goyanes. Arias, who lives in Los Angeles with her husband and partner, Stefan, her daughter, and her Boston terrier, named Pepper, revealed to the publication that she suffered postpartum anxiety. Parents Latina states that although many Latinas may suffer from it, few discuss it as candidly as Arias did, due to the social stigma that still prevails in the Hispanic community. "No, I didn't shower. Couldn't eat. I could spend my days crying for no reason, and I didn't feel a connection to Indi until weeks later,”he explained sincerely.

However, Arias explained to Parents Latina that exercise was his best ally. She also stressed that being too honest with her fans on social networks also has its ups and downs. Why? In order to combat her depression, Arias returned to her environment: the gym. “Some people would say, 'Look at her, she's exercising because she wants her body back. She is supposed to be enjoying her baby. ' They did not know that I was trying to fight my depression in the best way I knew how; through the exercises,”said the coach.
