Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg announced Friday that he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, will be parents to a girl.

“This will be a new chapter in our lives. We have already been very fortunate for the opportunity to touch the lives of people around the world - Priscilla, as a doctor and educator, and I through this community and philanthropy,”Zuckerberg disclosed on her Facebook page. "Now we will focus on making the world a better place for our daughter and the next generation."

In the message, the 31-year-old billionaire businessman disclosed that his wife has suffered from three miscarriages.

“To start, we want to share an experience. We have tried to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way,”she wrote. “You feel so hopeful when you find out that you are going to have a child. You start making plans and dreaming about your futo and suddenly they are gone. It is a lonely experience.”

Zuckerberg and Chan met in 2003 when they were studying at Harvard University. The couple married on May 19, 2012 in the courtyard of their residence in Palo Alto, California, in front of about 100 guests, according to People magazine.
