Several of the youngest members of the LeBaron family are successfully recovering from injuries sustained in an ambush on a highway in Mexico in which nine people lost their lives, the funerals of which have already begun.
In a moving video, the family shared images of the 9-month-old Brixton Langford, recovering in a United States hospital after surviving the massacre that killed his mother and brothers in Sonora state. Brixton, along with four other children, is under observation and treatment at an Arizona hospital.
"He is Brixton thanking all the prayers," the family wrote next to the video shared on the GoFundMe page showing the little boy, who was injured in the chest and left wrist.
The funerals of the nine victims began to be held this Thursday in Mexico amid enormous security measures and with the assistance of hundreds of people, including numerous relatives of the deceased. The first to be buried were Dawna Ray Langford, 43, and her sons Trevor, 11, and Rogan, 2.
The family also shared photos of the surviving Dawna children: Kylie Langford, 14, with a foot injury; Mckenzie Rayne, shot in the arm; Cody Greyson, 8, with a bullet in the jaw; and Xander, 4, with back injuries.
At the moment, the children are under the care of their aunt Leah Langford Staddon, who confessed on Facebook that after the tragedy she questioned the existence of God.
"Sitting in the hospital with my sweet nephews while the rest of my family is in Mexico preparing the funerals for nine members of my precious family today," wrote the aunt. “I feel more anguish and sadness and anger and pain and shock than I have ever felt in my entire life. I wonder why? Why did God allow evil men to murder their most innocent children and mothers?"
Dawna and her two children were buried near the community where they lived in Sonora, while the bodies of the rest of the victims will be taken to the so-called Colonia LeBaron this Friday, according to the Daily Mail.
The tragedy has caused a huge commotion in both Mexico and the United States, a country of which the LeBaron are also citizens, and comes after the scandal that led to the release of one of Chapo Guzmán's sons after he was captured by the forces. Mexican security.
