The death of a two-year-old girl who was devoured after falling into a crocodile pit has shocked the world. Police reported the tragedy, which occurred at the girl's family's crocodile farm in Cambodia. The two-year-old girl, identified as Rom Roath Neary, fell into the pit filled with the giant reptiles when her mother lost sight of her while caring for her newborn baby, the New York Post reported.
The girl allegedly strayed from the family home near Siem Reap and was never seen alive again. When her father, Min Min, 35, arrived at the house around 10 a.m. and began searching for his missing daughter, he found her skull inside the concrete pond where the crocodiles swim.
The 32-year-old mother Nay Is was horrified to see her daughter's remains and the local media has published heartbreaking images of the mother crying as she hugged what was left of the girl's devoured body.
Police Chief Chem Chamnan told the press: "Her father only found her skull in the crocodile pond, where the crocodiles killed her."
According to officials, the little girl had gone out to play in the patio of the house, where they have a crocodile farm (to produce the meat and leather of the animals). Police reported that the family had recently built a 10-foot-high fence surrounding the pond, but that there were small spaces where the girl fell. Rest in peace.
