Playboy Ex-model Arrested In Connection With Death Of California Doctor

A former Playboy model has been arrested in connection with the death of Dr. Thomas Burchard of Monterrey, California.

Kelsey Turner, 25, was arrested by FBI members in Stockton, California, on March 21.

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department informed the press that on March 7, they received a call just after 10:50 a.m. alerting them to a suspicious vehicle with a broken window on State Highway 147 between Las Vegas and Lake Mead. The doctor's body was found in the vehicle.

The Clark County coroner later determined that Burchard, 71, was killed. Burchard was a psychiatrist at the Monterey Peninsula Community Hospital (CHOMP).

Homicide investigators believe Turner was involved in the incident. Turner was arrested on charges of first-degree murder.

Turner's mother Samantha told KSBW that Kelsey and Burchard had known each other for years. Burchard had paid rent on a house in Salinas, California, where Kelsey and his mother and Kelsey's children lived.

A neighbor confirmed that Kelsey and her family lived in the house for "about a year" and revealed that during her stay there were parties and various riots.

"In fact, on some occasions there were calls to the police," said Marcelino Alejandro, who lived next to Turner in Salinas.

An anonymous source who originally told Action News that Burchard was renting the Salinas house said Turner moved to Las Vegas after Burchard stopped paying the rent on the house.

The source said Burchard met Turner online and was giving Turner and his mother, "anywhere from two to four thousand dollars a week, easily."

The source told KSBW that the last thing Burchard said to her before leaving for her deadly trip to Las Vegas was "It seems Kelsey is having trouble with her boyfriend in Las Vegas because he is hitting her. He is abusing her and he has no money, he has nowhere to go. She says I feel partially responsible for this."

Turner has a cutoff date set for April 8 at 8:30 am in San Joaquin County.
