Woman Causes Child's Death By Sitting On Her As Punishment

Veronica Green Posey, a 64-year-old woman and a resident of the state of Florida, faces charges for the murder of a minor after the death of her cousin Dericka Lindsay, just 9 years old, after sitting on him for several minutes.

As reported by the online site of the newspaper El Nuevo Herald, Posey, who weighs around 150 kilos, has confessed to the police that he landed on the little girl as punishment for her bad behavior. Everything would have happened in the minor's house, in the city of Pensacola.

It seems that the parents of the minor, Grace Joan Smith and James Edmund Smith, would have witnessed everything that happened with Dericka, in fact they would have been the ones who called Posey to help them control the misbehavior of their daughter.

Additional information adds that the woman also hit the girl with a ruler and a metal tube, this before deciding to sit on her for around ten minutes.

Despite the fact that the little girl expressed not being able to breathe, the woman continued on her for a few more minutes. When they realized the girl was unconscious, they made an emergency call to 911 while trying to resuscitate her without success. Authorities responding to the emergency immediately transferred the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Posey faces murder and cruelty charges against a minor. For their part, the parents of the minor face accusations of negligence in the care of a minor.
