Samantha Whitney Jones, 30, faces murder charges after killing her 11-week-old baby RJ, after feeding her milk that contained traces of drugs.
According to a People magazine report published on her online site, the woman resident of New Britain Township, in the state of Pennsylvania, was accused of murder after the autopsy carried out on the baby determined that she had consumed milk that contained methadone., amphetamine and methamphetamine.
"RJ consumed a fatal combination of drugs through breast milk," said forensic experts in charge of the investigation, according to official case documents obtained by the publication.
According to what the woman revealed to the authorities, at the time of the child's death she was consuming methadone, which she assures was prescribed to combat her addiction to pain relievers.
On the morning of April 2, the day the baby died, Jones made an emergency call to line 911 after he found his son unconscious and breathless. Authorities arrived around 7:48 a.m. and found the boy having a cardiac arrest. The infant was rushed to a nearby medical center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:29 am
The woman is currently being held at the Bucks County Jail and the judge in charge of the case set her a $ 3 million bond. Jones will have to appear again in court next Monday, July 23.
