Authorities report a shooting in Maryland in which three people have lost their lives and two others were injured Thursday.

The attacker is a dissatisfied employee who tried to shoot herself in the head twice, a source close to the investigation said. The woman is now in critical condition and in custody.

The shooting happened at a Rite Aid store pharmacist distribution center in Harford County, Maryland, about 30 miles from Baltimore, officials revealed.

Rite Aid spokeswoman Susan Henderson told CNN. “What I understand is that the location is safe. Approximately 1,000 employees work there."

"The distribution center is where the products are received and processed for delivery," he said. “This is part of a large facility that is a distribution center. The shooting occurred next to the main building."

The Hartford State Sheriff's Office tweeted that several officials were dispatched to the scene at 9:09 am ET. People are asked to avoid the area outside the city of Perryman. There are houses, churches and a cemetery in the area. The train tracks run next to a business park”.

"We are closely monitoring the horrible shooting," Governor Larry Hogan tweeted. “Our prayers go out to all those affected, including our first responders. The State is ready to offer any type of support.”
