Jesse Hernández, a 13-year-old boy, was found alive after falling and staying at least 12 hours in the Los Angeles sewer system.
The rescue was carried out by the Los Angeles Fire Department, who found the whereabouts of the minor. Telemundo reported that Hernández fell to a depth of 25 feet in a water pipe in Griffith Park. But how did the boy fall there?
The information released by the authorities states that Hernández was playing in an abandoned building when the terrible accident happened. The city's rescue teams found the young man's whereabouts because they introduced cameras that have long ranges inside the pipes. Launching the cameras they ran into fingerprints in the area and were able to find it.
The Los Angeles Times indicates that Fire Chief Erick Scott explained that the young man was found scared and obviously wet after falling into the pipe of the city's sewer system. Once he was rescued, the young man was able to call and communicate with his family by phone.
It should be noted that the complicated part of the rescue is that it had to be carried out as quickly as possible. This, because according to press reports, Scott explained that there are dangerous, poisonous substances in these sewer systems. The Diario Las Américas states that Hernández had to receive medical assistance so that it could be reviewed. Furthermore, it had to be decontaminated. Once the process was completed, the minor of only 13 years old was discharged. In short, it was an impressive rescue.
