Michael Christopher Sage, a 22-year-old California man, is behind bars after his partner's skeleton was found buried in the back of the house in which they lived in Sacramento County.

According to information revealed by the police department in charge of the investigation, the woman's remains were discovered, on December 26, by a group of construction workers who were carrying out a remodeling of the property. Terrified by the scene they found, they immediately called the authorities.

"The officers answered the call and located the remains, which were unearthed … Officials and specialized homicide agents determined that they were human remains," Sacramento police said in a statement.

The skeleton allowed investigators to determine that the cause of his death had been homicide. According to the accusations that exist against Sage, after a heated discussion, he stabbed and caused the death of his partner in the summer of 2015. Then he would have buried the body in the back of the house that they shared and some time later he would have moved out of that residence to evade any liability.

Despite the fact that the evidence points to Sage being guilty of the murder, one of the points that most puzzles investigators is the fact that the woman died more than a year ago but was never reported missing by any of her relatives or relatives.

The man is detained and has not yet accepted the murder charges of which he is charged.
