Michael McCarthy was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of the two-year-old girl, Bella Bond, known as "Baby Doe," whose body was found in 2015 in a plastic bag in Boston, according to People magazine.

McCarthy, who was a boyfriend of Bella's mother, Rachelle Bond, at the time, was charged as soon as the girl's corpse was identified.

The case was one that shocked all of Boston, according to press reports. The defendant, who was found guilty by a jury of four women and eight men, will have to serve at least 15 years in prison before being entitled to parole.

The victim's mother, who pleaded guilty, told the court that McCarthy had told her that her daughter was a demon.

Bond's testimony shows that the night of the event the girl, just two years old, was crying and could not sleep. Then McCarthy entered her room and hit her in the stomach.

In addition, the People's note details that Bond testified in court that he noticed that his daughter's head was swollen and her face gray.

However, CBS Boston reports that while Bond claimed from his ex-boyfriend what he had done to his daughter, she helped McCarthy put her daughter's lifeless body in a plastic bag.
