A nurse from Canada pleaded guilty last Thursday to charges related to the murder of eight elderly people in her care because they were bad and God had directed her to kill them.
His incredible confession was videotaped by the police.
Elizabeth Tracey Mae Wettlaufer, a 49-year-old Ontario nurse, told investigators that between 2007 and 2014, she injected several patients in two different facilities with lethal doses of insulin between 2007 and 2014 because God told her to, according to CNN
Wettlaufer, whose victims were between 75 and 90 years old, said that when he heard the divine order, he selected the victims according to their behavior.
In his testimony he confessed that he felt an urge to kill and that, after each of his crimes, he felt an uncontrollable laugh.
Her actions were not a secret, she said, as she revealed them to her pastor and others. Perhaps they did not believe him, or perhaps they thought that "he was doing something the patient wanted."
The crimes of Wettlaufer, who also confessed to trying to murder 6 other older men, came to light when she was admitted to a Toronto psychiatric hospital for depression. There she revealed her Machiavellian events, and medical personnel reported it to the police, who arrested her shortly thereafter.
His trial will be later this month and the prosecution asked for life in prison.
