Yibram Saab, the son of Venezuelan Ombudsman Tarek William Saab, used his YouTube account to condemn the repression in that nation and urge his father to end the "injustice that has sunk the country."
The video where Yibram Saab appears has been shared on social networks and has caused quite a stir. I condemn the brutal repression by the nation's security forces, of which I was a victim today, as was Juan Pablo Pernalete, a 20-year-old university student who was killed due to the terrible and inhuman use tear gas, after he had an impact on his chest. That could have been me,”said the 22-year-old law student of the young man who died Wednesday in street protests by the Venezuelan opposition in Altamira, in the state of Miranda.
The young man speaks to his father in the moving video. “Finally, I address my dad directly: 'Dad, right now you have the power to end the injustice that has brought the country down. I ask you as a son and in the name of Venezuela, which you serve, to reflect and do what you have to do. I understand you, I know it is not easy, but it is the right thing, '”added Yibram Saab.
Nicolás Maduro Guerra, the son of the President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro, responded to Yibram Saab through his own Twitter account. “Your 3 minutes of fame could have been something else. I think you could have picked up the phone and talked to your dad, lovingly express your concern and listen to him,”wrote Maduro Guerra. "Those who marched next to you today are using your father's love to manipulate the country, your pressure on a free man like [your father] is the desire for family disunity of those who want to destroy the homeland."
Meanwhile, massive protests by the Venezuelan opposition continue throughout the country, demanding a change that includes free elections and the release of political prisoners such as Leopoldo López, among other points.
