The chemical attack carried out in Syria last Tuesday has left heartbreaking images such as that of a young father carrying his 9-month-old twins who died in the attack.

The photo that has touched the networks shows Abdel Hameed Alyousef, 29, carrying the lifeless bodies of little Aya and Ahmed, each one on one arm. "Say goodbye, babies, say goodbye", you can hear him say crying in front of the camera of a cousin of his, whom he asked to record it while saying goodbye to the minors when leaving in a van from the area of the attack.

In the attack in the village of Khan Sheikhoun, Idlib province, in the far north of Syria, Abdel lost a total of 25 family members, including his two sons, his wife and two brothers.

The man reported that he woke up feeling that he could not breathe and immediately went to check on his children, who were apparently still alive, so he ran to his parents' house, where he found his two brothers dead.

On returning home, the twins were already reacting to the gas used in the attack. “They had foam in their mouths, there were seizures. They were all on the ground,”Youssef told CNN crying.

The father proceeded to remove the children from their home with their mother, Dalal Ahmed. "At first they were conscious, but 10 minutes later we could perceive the smell," he said.

"Abel is very bad," said his cousin, Alaia, who was responsible for recording the videos. "But he is especially devastated by his huge loss."

The attack, which has claimed the lives of at least 72 people, has received almost unanimous worldwide condemnation, to the point that President Donald Trump, reluctant to become involved in the conflict until now, said he had changed his view of this civil war.

Many members of the international community, including the United States, hold the Syrian government responsible for the chemical weapons attack in a population controlled by rebel forces.

Russia, an ally of Damascus, said on the contrary that the incident occurred when government planes accidentally bombed a hidden warehouse of chemical weapons of the rebels.
