Milo Yiannopoulos, a far-right writer and a regular follower of President Donald Trump, quit his job as editor of the online site Breitbart News after videos came to light that seem to hint at his support for the practice of pedophilia..

In the controversial conversations that have been reported, the controversial writer expressed that "pedophilia was not a sexual attraction for someone 13 years old who is sexually developed" but that it is "an attraction for children who have not yet reached puberty".

In another of his comments Yiannopoulos was in favor of relationships between young people and older people. After the avalanche of criticism that rained after making his comments known, the writer gave a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in which he announced his resignation as editor of Breitbart News, also presenting an apology for his comments and clarifying that he does not support pedophilia.

"I would be wrong if I allowed my poor selection of words to be an impediment for my colleagues to continue reporting, that's why I am leaving Breitbart today," he told the media present at his conference.

Yiannopoulos also added that his comments on the 13-year-olds were taken out of context and assured that he was referring to the age when he lost his virginity.

The writer has made a name for himself in the industry for his criticism and constant attack on the LBGT community, African Americans and Muslims.

The conservative outlet Breitbart News became a key player during the presidential campaign, to the point that the outlet's director, Steven Bannon, is now one of the current president's top advisers.
