Almost a week after suffering a serious accident that forced her hospitalization, Britney Spears' niece has left the hospital on Friday to complete her recovery at home, exclusively confirmed People.
"Maddie Aldridge, 8, the daughter of artist Jamie-Lynn Spears, has been released from New Orleans Children's Hospital," the hospital center said in a statement. “She is breathing well and interacting with her loved ones. Doctors say a full recovery is underway."
Following the incident last Sunday, the minor had been initially said to be away from her mother, Britney Spears' younger sister, when the accident allegedly happened during a hunt. Later it was confirmed that it happened on family property in view of her mother and other relatives, who at first were unable to rescue the little girl.
"Aldridge accidentally steered his ATV vehicle into a pond on a relative's property in Kentwood, Louisiana on Sunday and was trapped underwater," the statement said. "The family would like to thank Air Med helicopter paramedics and medical personnel for their saving reaction during crucial moments of the accident."
The thanks also extended to the hospital staff. “They also want to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at University Medical Center New Orleans, as well as Children's Hospital in New Orleans. The family thanks the thousands of people who have been praying for her recovery. They have been moved by the avalanche of support they have received in these difficult times.”
The parents of the minor confirmed the happy news by sharing a photo of the family flying in a helicopter on the way home.
