Netizens were surprised to see an illustration depicting former President of the United States Barack Obama, who just recently shared his first impressions upon leaving power, and the marriage of singers Jay-Z and Beyoncé with white skin.

The image, developed from a photo of a charity event the three of them attended some time ago, illustrated a wikiHow article titled "How to be a Congressman." But it was not until someone shared it on Twitter that the public realized who the three protagonists of that image were.

Apologizing for the incident, spokespersons for that website indicated that just a few minutes after the tweet was broadcast, they removed it. However, the controversy it has generated continues to gain strength.

According to a statement released, the cartoon, in which the former president appears with straight brown hair, was made three years ago by a group of three wikiHow artists who work "as one."

The media also indicated that one of those artists did not know that it was the former president and Beyonce, who incidentally was among the celebrities present in the second Obama oath.

"We do not believe that the illustrator intentionally laundered them," he said. Although he also recognizes that this is not an excuse "for having had a terrible image on wikiHow and that we need more diversity in that article. Period."

WikiHow says it is talking to its team of artists to prevent mistakes like this from happening again.
