Have you been obsessed with the "Manolos" since you saw Carrie in Sex And The City? If you can't afford a pair of Manolo Blahnik now at least you can access the fantastic world of the world's most famous shoe designer thanks to a documentary about his life that will premiere on September 15: “Manolo: The boy that made shoes for lizards”.
In the film, celebrities and trendsetters who love his designs appear, such as Naomi Campbell, Rihanna, with whom he recently presented a collection of jewel shoes, or Anna Wintour, who usually does not usually give many statements about her fashion preferences, but in the documentary confesses that Blahnik is his absolute favorite. "I do not remember the last time I wore other shoes that are not his, nor did I look at them," he admits in the trailer.
The designer has confessed to the fashion magazine WWD that it was not his idea to make this documentary, since he has never been interested in fame and that he only accepted the project under one condition. “I am a disaster on camera. I told Michael (Roberts, the director of the film) that the only condition was that I didn't want to be filmed too much because some days I'm exhausted or sick, he explained.
“I prefer that people talk about me, if they want. It's like a documentary [about me] seen from the eyes of others.”
2017 seems to be the year of Blahnik, since just a few months ago an art exhibition dedicated to his 46-year career was presented in Milan in which 212 designer shoes and 80 beautifully located sketches could be seen in a luxurious palazzo of the century XVIII.
