The urban genre is sounding louder than ever and few women have been able to settle in a domain dominated by men: reggaeton. But Ivy Queen, the Queen of reggaeton as her fans call her, has known how to stay afloat since her beginnings in the canopies of Puerto Rico.
There's no woman in reggaeton who doesn't mention Ivy when it comes to who has been an inspiration to them. What do you think of the Latin singers that nowadays monopolize the Billboard charts like Natti Natasha, Karol G and Becky G?
I have always told them that the one who enters this will continue in their hearts because this is a very strong business for women, you have to have your pants on correctly, you have to respect your identity, you have to respect yourself as a woman, You have to make strong decisions,”Ivy exclusively told People en Español. “Being in control is the most important thing. For me it has always been that, I have made my own decisions regarding music, appearance, look, and how to communicate, because we must not forget that we continue to be an example for many who come behind, and I know that I have been a example for them”, he says.
Aside from serving as a mentor to other exponents of urban music, Ivy Queen is the Diva, the Filly and the Caballota in her home. Her daughter Naiovy Kháli Star Sánchez has shown that she has inherited the artistic streak of the Puerto Rican, so she will receive one hundred percent support from her mother.
"My daughter is multifaceted. At times she goes out acting, she goes out dancing and she knows the cartoons from A to Z. Actually, what my daughter decides to take as a career I will operate to support, "says Ivy. “I try not to sow in my daughter: [the seed of] you have to sing, you have to dance, you have to paint your nails. I am one of these mothers who lets her daughter flourish, obviously when I have to restrict certain things obviously, for the good, so that I don't get hit, [I do]. Of course, the interpreter of "I have loved you, I have cried to you" honors what her daughter wants as long as she "goes with the truth".
