The film Roma has swept 10 nominations for the 2019 Oscar awards.

The film, written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, based on the colony of the same name in Mexico City has caught the attention of the public.

Lead actress Yalitza Aparicio has quickly made a mark in Hollywood and has earned a coveted Best Actress Award nomination.

However, not all the cast of the feature film has suffered the same fate. Actor Jorge Antonio Guerrero, who plays Fermín in Rome, has not been able to travel from Mexico to the United States to be part of any of the events in which the film's success has been celebrated since his visa has been denied. three times.

“The first one was at the beginning of last year. Back then, I still had no news related to the movie [Rome]. At the time, my reasons were tourist only. They deny it to me, and by October or November, that [the film] had already premiered at the Morelia Festival, that's when I started making these invitations from Netflix, both for red carpets and Golden Globes,”he said in an interview. to the Who magazine.

The second time he tried, despite presenting himself with an invitation letter from Netflix, Guerrero revealed that immigration officials chose not to read the document.

"On my second try, they said I was going to work, and I said no, I was going as a guest," he told the publication. The third attempt was also not pleasant.

The Mexican interpreter, who also participated in the Luis Miguel bioseries, hopes that the arid process of obtaining his visa is only "a matter of procedure" and that it was just luck for the official on duty.

"I want to think about that, because if we could find a way for a consular officer or someone at the embassy to read those invitation letters, you could understand the artistic figure I have and the cultural exchange that is taking place between two nations," he said.

Guerrero only hopes to celebrate the success that Rome has had with Cuarón and his companions. Of course, it is already celebrating the nomination of Aparicio for Best Actress. “I am super happy. Hopefully, hopefully, and I say it with all my heart, Yalitza takes the Oscar. Imagine, I'm thinking about that more. And eventually, if it can be processed (the visa) well.
