According to the report, the 'slimming hormone' can be an excellent ally to achieve the ideal weight by helping to find a balance between appetite and calories consumed as it stimulates digestion, increases energy expenditure and burns body fat.
So should you start taking melatonin supplements to help shed some pounds? The answer is no, for some reasons.
Foods like grains, fruits, and certain legumes can help activate this hormone in a more natural way. Here we present them to you.
The tomatoes:
This rich fruit, in addition to containing melatonin, contains vitamin C and fibers that help burn fat.
The oats:
Perfect for a nutritious breakfast. Oatmeal contains melatonin that will aid weight loss.
The cherries:
The vitamins and antioxidants that cherries contain help metabolism to work faster and are rich in melatonin.
Rice:
This grain is rich in iron, potassium and large amounts of the hormone to lose weight.
The body's natural production and melatonin calibration are complicated and incredibly accurate. Melatonin supplements, even taken in recommended doses, can raise hormone levels to several times higher than normal. This can lead to disruption of circadian rhythms and a healthy sleep cycle, a result that is not good for overall health or weight management.
