One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to have a healthier lifestyle and eat better - especially after enjoying all the delicious food at parties.
When choosing a new diet, the question is what diet should I choose? Or what changes should be made. To answer some of your questions, the personal trainer and certified nutrition coach, Sebastián Morel Ferreira, presented us with two of the most popular eating styles today, their advantages and disadvantages: vegetarian vs. vegetarian. vegan.
Vegan Diet:
A diet based mainly on fruits and vegetables can be healthy. Many people adopt a vegetarian life for several reasons: health, family custom, greater availability of certain foods, religion, health, culture or ethical factors.
Advantage:
They prevent heart disease.
Lowers blood pressure..
Facilitates the expulsion of food waste.
It is healthy for those with high cholesterol.
Disadvantages:
Vegetable vitamins are not complete.
They don't get the proper vitamin B12. In the case of children, this can negatively impact their development and nutrition. It is not recommended to include children in these types of restrictive diets where food is prohibited.
Vegetarian diet:
vegetarian diet in which the diet is less flexible and only foods of plant origin are included, that is, strict vegetarians who do not consume dairy meats or eggs but do include legumes, cereals, seeds, nuts, vegetables, fruits in their daily diet and derivatives of the aforementioned.
Among the benefits that this entails is the low contribution of saturated fats, as well as the null contribution of cholesterol and high fiber in the diet.
The disadvantages of people who eat a vegetarian diet are an increased risk of deficiencies of some micronutrients, especially eating more to obtain a high level of protein.
