Terrifying scenes were experienced in a city in northern India when a man was caught walking through the crowd with his wife's decapitated head in hand. The creepy moment has been captured in a viral video.

The events happened this Saturday, February 1, in the state of Uttar Pradesh after the alleged murderer Akhilesh Rawat, 30, argued violently with who his wife was for two years and who in life responded to the name of Rajani, 26.

The man reportedly attacked his consort with a sharp white weapon - not yet revealed - by decapitating it. Rawat then walked for more than three miles with his head in his hands, according to The Times of India newspaper.

In the video in question, the subject is observed walking among the terrified passers-by and cyclists who cannot believe their eyes. Incredibly, the subject was apprehended in the vicinity of the Jahangirabad local police station.

"We have recovered the weapon in the defendant's home," Arvind Chaturvedi, superintendent of police, later told The Hindustan Times. As revealed three months ago, the couple had a baby who died within a few days of birth due to an undisclosed illness.

"After the death of her daughter, the victim went to live at her parents' house," Chaturvedi explained. "[But] four days ago Akhilesh managed to bring her home again."

Rawat now faces a murder charge, as well as a "dowry death" charge that was brought against him by the victim's father. Authorities are now trying to determine the motive for the crime.
