In the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, India, a woman by the name of Erramatti Mangayamma gave birth to twins by caesarean section and after becoming pregnant by In Vitro Fertilization. This case has drawn attention because the farmer is 73 years old.

"The surgery went well," Dr. Sanakayyala Umashankar, director of Ahalya IVF, told CNN. "The mother and babies are healthy without complications."

Due to the woman's advanced age, a team of ten doctors was in charge of the operation and they consider this situation a “miracle”. However, they have decided to keep the mother under observation for 21 days and, at the moment, the lady will not be able to give milk from her breasts to the girls, who "will be fed through the milk bank."

"An achievement of modern medicine," the doctor told other media. "In vitro fertilization not only depends on science, the will of God also matters."

Mangayama and her husband E. Raja Rao married in 1962. Despite their efforts to conceive naturally, they had no luck; therefore, they decided to try this method. Umashankar treated them in 2018 and provided them with the IVF treatment that obtained these results.

Now the girls' father, who is 80 years old, has already started making plans for what this new life will be like with his daughters.

"I'm very happy. God has heard our prayers, "Rao told the media.

For her part, Erramatti Mangayamma is also happy to have fulfilled her long-awaited dream of being a mother.

“Now he is very confident; more confident than ever in his life and looking forward to the next chapter of his life with girls, concluded Umashankar.
