A 25-year-old man has been accused of killing his 8-month-old daughter, who was found in a New York state pond, according to authorities.
State police officials say they responded to a 911 call, around 7 a.m., reporting that the baby went missing Sunday morning. They found Cody A. Franciscovich naked near the Deep Well Motel in Tioga County, where the family had been living for several weeks.
New York State Police say Franciscovich directed them to a pond where the baby, Ruby Franciscovich, floated upside down.
The baby was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Franciscovich is in the Tioga County Jail without bond, charged with first degree murder. On Wednesday he will have to return to court.
Two other children, ages 2 and 4, children of Franciscovich and his partner, were handed over to another family member. The child protection service is involved in the case.
