Rebecca Ruud, a woman resident of the state of Missouri, faces charges for the murder of her daughter Savannah Leckie, 16, whom she had reported missing on July 20.

According to a report published on the People magazine website, Rudd, 38, also reportedly attempted to incinerate Leckie's body, apparently in his attempt to remove her remains and any evidence of the murder.

In an emergency call made by the mother a little over a month ago, she reportedly told police officers that "she couldn't find [her daughter] anywhere," adding that the young woman took her pillow and sheets, all to make the authorities think that the girl had escaped.

The authorities in charge of the investigation and search for the teenager found her remains on Rudd's ranch, just 400 feet from the house where they lived. Ozark County Police arrested the woman at a bus station when she was apparently trying to escape the location.

Leckie lived with her biological mother for only a few months, since as a baby she was adopted by another family. "We are grieving for the loss of a loved one," his adoptive parents, Tamile Montague and David Leckie, would have shared through a spokesperson.

In late 2016, the Leckie and Rudd family reached an agreement for the adolescent to live with her biological mother, in order to help her have a better life, since she suffered from autism, depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder..
