The Capital Gazette newspaper, located in downtown Annapolis, Maryland has been the scene of a shooting where "multiple" injuries are reported.
At 2:34 pm, the building located at 888 Bestgate Road was evacuated after hearing gunshots. Anne Arundel police confirmed through Twitter the presence of a gunman, who is suspected of being a white man and who, according to CNN, would already be in the custody of the authorities. The subject reportedly used a shotgun.
A gunman fired through the glass door and opened fire on multiple employees. I can't say much more and I don't want to declare that nobody has died, but this is bad,”said Phil Davis, a crime reporter for the newspaper, who apparently was inside the building in a tweet.
Lisa Clough, director of press relations at the University Medical Center of Baltimore confirmed that a patient was admitted to the center as a result of the shooting, without confirming his condition or identity.
Authorities reported that a reunification center has been established inside a Lord & Taylor warehouse adjacent to the crime scene. Those who have been evicted from the building will be able to meet their friends and colleagues at their facilities.
