Dr. Nancy Álvarez cannot be happy because on September 14 she will receive the The Illustrious Awards in New York.
As reported by The Institute for Latino Studies, of The City University of New York (CUNY), the award highlights the contributions of Latinos in the United States, in areas such as the arts, education, science, business and the media, among other.
“I am extremely grateful for this award. I share it with extremely talented people, such as Gilberto Santa Rosa; with Danny Rivera, whom I sang with when I was 15 years old and whom I greatly admire. Also with Michael Camilo, El Canario, Zoe Saldaña, Jorge Ramos, María Celeste Arrarás, Jennifer López and many others,”said Álvarez, who was happy with the recognition that the award represents for Latinos who have succeeded in the United States, but that at the same time they have preserved their pride for their homeland. “We have loved our countries and we have made ourselves respected in a difficult place like the United States. Because those who do not love where they come from, simply have no future, said Álvarez.
So if you live in New York, you had better be careful, because the Illustrious Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, September 14 at The City University of New York - Graduate Center - Proshansky Auditorium, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10016-4309.
